Welcome to my bike riding website. I spend a lot of time riding, either my touring bike, road bike, or mountain bike. I try and write about the interesting stuff here.

Newport via Logsden road. Camped at South Beach SP. Sunny but cold wind.

I left a little late late waiting for it to warm up a bit. It did and it was a great ride over the Coast Range on a road I had never been before. Hardly saw a car for 23 miles. There was about a 2 mile gravel stretch at the top. One mile steep up and the other down. The next 20 mile were into an ever increasing headwind, but the riding was so nice I didn't mind it much.

Epic ride through the coast range. Rainy day, but not cold. During the week a friend told me about a route to the coast that was all paved, and bypassed most of Hwy 20. Between Philomath and Blodgett the highway has a pretty good shoulder. I turned North at Blodgett on the Blodgeet/Eddyville road. From there is was only 5 miles to Summit.

Got tired of the fog. Drove to Sunnyside park east of Sweet Home. Got out of the fog as soon as I started riding. Sunny and warmer at the lake. There doesn't seem to be a road all the way around the lake, so I just did an out and back on Quartzville road. May have to explore some more when the days are longer.

Looking upstream from the last bridge on the lake. I don't know what they call this river, but it was running pretty good.

My favorite rides of 2013

I put on a lot of miles this year. Here are some of the highlights.

Daily Commuting

I put in 2694 miles commuting this year. During the summer I'd often do an extra 10-20 miles on the way home from work. In early December there was snow on the road for a week. I had a great time riding my Mountain Trucker in the snow. I really like the routine of knowing I would be on the bke by 7:30 every day.
